Marilyn Ellen Preble

October 21, 1952 — July 17, 2025

Wellsboro

Marilyn Ellen Preble, age 72, of Wellsboro, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, July 17, 2025, at the Gatehouse in Williamsport, PA. Born October 21, 1952, in Fort Worth, TX, she was a daughter of the late Merle & Hazel (Spencer) Preble.

Marilyn was a devout Christian, an incredible homemaker for her family, and took great pride in her employment as a housekeeper. She had an unmatched ability to quickly and thoroughly perform a turn down room service and truly enjoyed meeting and conversing with new guests at the hotel. She loved music, dancing, and singing, having grown up in a household where everyone either sang or played an instrument. Marilyn was also a talented baker and cook, often producing delicious treats for family and friends, especially during Christmas.

Some of her other hobbies and interests included traveling, shopping, attending the Spencer Family Reunion, comedic movies, and enjoying her daily bag of dill pickle chips. Above all, her family was most important to her, sharing her love of music, baking, cooking, and movies with her children, James and Carissa. She was a consistent mother figure for her granddaughter, Lanee, and has always loved, cherished, and cared for her great grandchildren. Marilyn’s kind-hearted nature and great sense of humor will be missed by all who knew her.

Left to cherish her memory are her son, James M. Mowers, of Wellsboro; grandchildren, Lanee (Kyle) Stevens, Lacey Watson (Justin Cobb), and Christian Bellinger (Mackenzie Tubbs-Fuhrer), all of Wellsboro; great grandchildren, Xander Stephen, Taryn Stevens, Sofia Bellinger, and Lilliana Bellinger; sisters, Dianne (Rob) Hansgen, of Tennessee, and Evelyn (Tom) Avagliano, of Pine City, NY; several nieces & nephews; and many dear friends.

In addition to her parents, Marilyn was preceded in death by her daughter, Carissa Jadoski, infant daughter Theresa, and brothers, Fremont, Milan, and Lamont.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Saturday, July 26, 2025, from 1-3 p.m., at Wilston-Currie Funeral Home, 130 S Main St, Mansfield, PA 16933. Marilyn’s funeral service will immediately follow at 3:00 p.m., with Life Celebrant, Tyler Currie, officiating, www.wilstoncurriefh.com.
