Marcile Smith Cleveland

Marcile Smith Cleveland, age 94, of Wellsboro, formerly of Covington, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at Broad Acres Nursing Home in Wellsboro. She shared 73 beautiful years of marriage with her loving husband, Pete Cleveland. Born March 25, 1931, in Blossburg, PA, she was a daughter of the late Wesley & Leona (Emberger) Smith.

Marcie retired from the United States Postal Service, as Postmaster, after serving Tioga County for over 30 years. She enjoyed socializing and gathering with friends and family. She was a member of the Tabernacle Baptist Church of Tioga and enjoyed competing in local bowling leagues with her husband. Some of Marcie’s other notable hobbies or skills included cooking, baking, and gardening. Her wonderful smile and kind-hearted nature will be missed by all who knew her.

Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband, Pete Cleveland, of Wellsboro; son and daughter-in-law, David & Kim Cleveland, of Millville, PA; grandchildren, Joshua, Jonathan, Joel (Danielle), Timothy, Shannon, Stevie (Joel), Gregory, and Shane; three great grandchildren; sisters, Lucille Persun, of Williamsport, and Patty (Donnie) Chaborek, of Covington; close family, Don & Lori Rice and their children; several nieces & nephews; and many dear friends.

In addition to her parents, Marcie was preceded in death by her beloved children, Gary Cleveland in 2014 & Susan Harmon in 2017, and her sisters, Peggy, June, Sandra, Betty Jean, Faye & Marcia.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Monday, January 12, 2026, from 1-2 p.m., at Wilston-Currie Funeral Home, 130 S. Main St., Mansfield, PA 16933. Marcie’s funeral service will immediately follow her viewing hour at 2:00 p.m., with Rev. Steven Neff officiating. She will be laid to rest in Gray Cemetery, Covington, www.wilstoncurriefh.com.
