Ellen Jane (Fotheringham) Santangelo

Ellen Jane Santangelo, age 94, of Mainesburg, PA, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away on Monday, April 29, 2024, in the comfort of her home. Born on July 5, 1929, she was the daughter of Franklin Fotheringham and Mary (Shainline) Schultz. Jane is survived by her children, Robin Santangelo of Tionesta, Joseph (Cheri) Santangelo of Mansfield, and Susan (Tyler) Olson of Mainesburg; her grandchildren, Tonya Ream of Fleetwood, Bailey Olson of Westfield, and Nicholas Olson of Mainesburg; and her great-grandchildren, Shaelyn, Charlie-Grace, Marc, and Johnathan. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Jane was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joseph; her brother, Franklin (Helen) Fotheringham; and her grandson, Joseph. 

She was a member of the Holy Child Catholic Church. Jane was a graduate of Norristown High School, where she made many lifelong friends and excelled at playing women's basketball. She worked as a bus driver and teacher's aide at Plymouth Meeting Friends School and later as a bus driver and driving instructor at Boyertown Area High School, from which she retired. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Jane enjoyed spending time with her family, friends, and co-workers. Her hobby was horseback riding, which she shared with her husband, Joseph; together, they traveled to many places across the eastern mountains and beaches to trail ride and camp with family and friends. She passed on her love of horses and the outdoors to her children, who followed in her footsteps. 

 A private service and burial will be held at the family's request. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Wilston-Currie Funeral Home, Mansfield.
