Alice Marie Abrams

September 11, 1930 — February 23, 2024

Mansfield, PA

Alice Marie (Harding) Abrams, 93, of Mansfield, entered eternal life on Friday, February 23, 2024, unexpectedly while recuperating from surgery.

Alice, daughter of Earl Harding and Stella (Skoronski) Harding, graduated in 1947 from Tunkhannock High School. Though she was modest about having been Miss Tunkhannock in 1946 and representing THS at the Laurel Festival, all who knew her appreciated her inner beauty. We loved all aspects of who she was; we benefitted greatly from the love that she gave to her whole family and how she welcomed our friends.

Alice never talked much about herself to others, but we knew how smart and capable she was, and how much she loved to sing and dance, as well as her love for music in general. She also loved to laugh, and Eugene Abrams, her husband of 65 years, probably helped her to do that the most. Alice held various positions as administrative assistant throughout her work life and retired from Mansfield University after 20 years in the education department. Aside from her family and hard work in any form, her greatest love was her home, where she was always most content.

She spent most of her life in rural PA, which gave her a great appreciation for being active and enjoying the beauty of the outdoors. During her daily walk – alone or with some of our family - she almost always noticed something new or beautiful, or something that reminded her of childhood in her loving family home on a hill just south of Tunkhannock. From her lifelong Catholic Faith, she gained a great devotion to the Rosary and the hope of salvation that God offers to each of us.

Alice was predeceased by her husband, Gene, and his siblings, as well as her parents, a younger brother (Norman Harding), and an older sister (Dorothy Harding Shaffer) and their spouses. Alice is survived by her two children, Charol (Dan) Clementi and Kevin (Mary Simmons) Abrams; three granddaughters, Alicia (Ben) Augustine, Cara Clementi, and Emily (Tom) Santaniello, as well as four great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Alice’s name to the Holy Child Parish, 237 S. Main St., Mansfield, PA 16933.
